Winter Skincare

If you live somewhere that experiences temperatures lower than 50 approximately half the year you may like to read on. Lower temperatures and dryness can leave your skin needing a little extra care.

Personally, I've noticed my skin becoming a little clearer in the winter months and also a little dryer. Since there is less humidity where we live, my breakouts diminish. However, the dryness of the winter months can lead to more irritations and redness.

To combat this I like to wash my skin 1-2 times per day. Usually I start the day with oil cleansing and in the evening use Petitgrain Olive Oil Soap with a washcloth and warm water. Sometimes I skip oil cleansing in the morning if my skin feels particularly fresh after a whole night of soaking in Green Gold Overnight Oil.

After waking up and cleansing (or not) I offer my skin hydration with potent hydrosols and introduce a natural humectant (organic glycerin) by using Pixie Mist Hydrating Toner , which is BACK IN STOCK in the apothecary.

I really need to write a whole post about Pixie Mist because it is so special. Last night as I was bottling it and swirling the silvery and naturally shimmery liquid, I put such good intentions into the dreamy potion! I hope it inspires magic in the everyday for those who try it. The smell of frankincense, lavender, neroli, witch hazel, and aloe is so deliciously magical to the senses. Glycerin adds a humectant quality, boosting your skin's natural hydration and it is elegantly preserved with probiotics.

Following a spray or two of Pixie Mist, I put Spring Tea Face Oil on lightly. I love this face oil to just really keep my skin looking soothed and moisturized throughout the day. The blend of linoleic and oleic oils are pretty even, so it's ability to lock in hydration is superb. I also love using it because the antioxidants and caffiec acid from the green tea leaves give a little boost to the skin.

When my skin feels like it's going to breakout or there is an existing breakout I lightly dab a small amount of Elysian Clearing Elixir on the affected area following my moisturizer.

This routine may seem complicated, but I definitely switch it up and don't follow it completely every time. I get by with a very minimal skin routine thanks to RAM.
